A Shutterer is responsible for constructing and assembling formwork (shuttering) used to mould concrete structures such as columns, beams, slabs, and walls. This role requires precision, knowledge of construction techniques, and adherence to safety standards. Shutterers play a critical role in ensuring concrete structures are formed accurately and securely.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install formwork for concrete structures according to drawings and specifications.
  • Measure, cut, and shape timber, plywood, or metal for shuttering.
  • Ensure formwork is properly aligned, levelled, and supported.
  • Apply release agents to formwork surfaces to prevent concrete adhesion.
  • Dismantle formwork after concrete has set, ensuring safe removal.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations on-site.

 

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Shutterer or similar role in construction.
  • Knowledge of formwork systems, materials, and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in outdoor environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Relevant certifications or apprenticeship (preferred).
  • Ability to work as part of a team and meet project deadlines.
