The Construction Labourer plays a vital role in supporting site operations by performing manual tasks, assisting skilled trades, and ensuring compliance with Maltese construction standards and OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Authority) regulations. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Preparation: Clear debris, level ground, and set up temporary barriers in accordance with Maltese site safety requirements.
- Material Handling: Load/unload deliveries and transport materials safely using proper manual handling techniques.
- Assist Trades: Support bricklayers, shutterers, pipe layers, and other trades with basic tasks such as mixing mortar/concrete and positioning materials.
- Operate Tools & Equipment: Use hand tools and small plant machinery only after proper training and certification.
- Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and hazard-free site to comply with OHSA guidelines.
- Safety Compliance: Follow Maltese construction safety standards, including wearing PPE.
- Waste Management: Segregate and dispose of construction waste according to local environmental regulations.
- Reporting: Immediately report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions to the Site Supervisor.
Requirements
- Previous experience in construction or manual labour.
- Ability to read and follow instructions in English (Maltese language skills are an advantage).
- Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
