Job Summary
A Heavy Vehicle Diagnostic Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty. The technician uses advanced diagnostic tools and technical knowledge to identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic faults while ensuring vehicles operate safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics on heavy vehicles using computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Inspect engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering, and electrical systems.
- Identify faults and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance on diesel and heavy-duty vehicles.
- Test vehicle systems and components after repairs to ensure proper operation.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and routine servicing.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and workshop procedures.
- Assist junior mechanics or apprentices when required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Automotive Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience working with heavy-duty vehicles or diesel engines.
- Strong knowledge of electronic diagnostic systems and repair tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems efficiently.
- Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with commercial trucks, cars.
- Familiarity with manufacturer diagnostic software.
- Valid heavy vehicle driving license B ( preferred C ).
Working Conditions
