Main Purpose of Job: 

The Mechanic will perform proper diagnosis, repairs, and maintenance to lifting equipment as assigned whist maintaining consistently high standards for technical efficiency and making quality repairs and diagnostics while throughout observing all safety requirements. 

Individual Key Objectives: 

Ensuring repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in a safe and responsible manner 

Testing of machinery when required, subject to licence restrictions 

Ensuring repairs are carried out in accordance with manufacturer standard times 

Notifying and reporting all components, materials and consumables used 

Diagnosing faults and being able to read schematics, electrical diagrams and manufacturers manuals. 

Responsible for the safe deposit and upkeep of any documents in possession in a proper manner 

Ensuring machinery are thoroughly examined and report verbally and in writing the general condition of vehicles and/or machinery with emphasis on customer safety 

Complying with warranty procedures during repairs ensure warranty displaced material returned on completion of a repair 

Always assisting with good workshop and dealership housekeeping 

Using specialised tools provided effectively and ensuring optimum use and best safe practices 

Ensuring that the company time recording procedures are complied with 

Ensuring job cards write ups are completed accurately and in a timely manner 

Ensuring that service sheets are completed as per manufacturer/customer instructions 

Keep informed and follow the Company’s Quality (ISO 9001), Environment (ISO 14001) and Health & Safety Management System procedures and policies while respecting all legal obligations. To support the achievement of the Company’s objective and targets and ensure our company achieve the desired level of customer satisfaction while it operates in an economic viable manner, respecting the wellbeing of all stakeholders and with minimal environmental impact’. 

Ensuring that all machine defects are reported to the workshop supervisor 

Ensuring all documents are signed in accordance with requirements 

Performing pre-delivery inspections.  

Any other duties commensurate with the level of this post as may be assigned from time to time. 

 

Working Conditions:

Ensure that the workshop facilities, equipment and tools are kept clean, tidy and maintained, reflecting the image of an efficient dealership

Personal Characteristics, Skills & Experience: 

Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing in Maltese or English, in order to be able to report adequately to superiors and to form good relations.  

Ability to work effectively in a team, including the ability to respond to the needs of team members and provide them with assistance as and when required. 

To be able to work under pressure and with minimal supervision. 

To be open and honest at all times 

Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with third parties 

To have a flexible approach to work commitments at all times 

Minimum O level of education. 

Basic knowledge of PC required  

To be in a possession of a valid driving licence 

Good working knowledge of computers and conversant with computer applications
