Special Projects Site Support 

 

We are looking for a versatile, hands-on maintenance and construction operative to support UNEC Special Projects across various projects and sites. 

  

The ideal candidates, working in a team of 2 , A lead and a helper being responsible for a range of tools and equipment. He will be expected to carry out general maintenance, finishing works, repairs, and various ad-hoc tasks required throughout the different stages of our projects. 

  

Main responsibilities include: 

  • Carrying out general maintenance and repair works across project sites. 
  • Completing finishing and remedial works where subcontractors have left outstanding items. 
  • Minor tiling repairs, concrete works, plastering, painting and decorating. 
  • General cleaning, housekeeping and keeping work areas organised. 
  • Minor plumbing and electrical works where competent. 
  • Basic trenching, cabling, piping and related site works. 
  • Assisting with the commencement and completion of projects. 
  • Operating and maintaining basic hand and power tools, including grinders, chasers and other construction equipment. 
  • Supporting the wider project teams with ad-hoc construction and maintenance requirements. 
  • Working effectively as part of a team and taking responsibility for completing tasks to an acceptable standard. 

  

Requirements / desirable skills: 

  • Previous experience in general maintenance, construction or building works. 
  • Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills. 
  • Basic knowledge across several trades is highly desirable. 
  • Knowledge of plumbing and electrical works would be an asset. 
  • Experience with general finishing works. 
  • Comfortable working with hand and power tools. 
  • Able to work outdoors and in demanding weather conditions, including the Maltese summer and winter. 
  • Able to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities. 
  • Reliable, responsible and able to work independently when required. 
  • Good team-worker with a positive, “can-do” attitude, and communication.  

  

  • Driving licence is highly desirable, as the role is visioned to involve driving a company van between various Unec Special Projects sites. 

  

The successful candidates should essentially be skilled, hands-on , who can move between projects, finishing the tasks at hand without constant supervision.
